Packer/Viking Wedding Cake

The wedding weekend begins!!!

Mike and Tonia's engagement photo.

The new Mr and Mrs!

Sisters.
Cake delivery takes on new meaning.
Mother of the bride sees the Packer/Viking cake for the first time!

A Wisconsin girl marries a Minnesota boy....
the perfect cake to say it all.

So much to do at this fun filled weekend wedding!

The reception was held at a beautiful lakeside
resort in the north woods.

This wedding was a labor of love.  The bride, along with family
and friends work hard in the morning transforming
everything into a wedding wonderland.
The hollowed out gourds were filled with flowers from
gardens of friends and family.

Transforming the tent the green way.
Everything was made from recycled or repurposed items.
Months of gathering supplies and researching ideas.
Check out the bride and grooms website for more green ideas for living life.

Placing the cake on the handmade cake stand.

The wedding cake's pedestal of honor.

Tables were decorated with runners made with antique lace doilies,
beeswax candles, handmade paper flower napkin rings around the cloth napkin,
vases and arrangements of wildflowers,
and a bottle of homemade maple syrup from the
brides family sugarbush.

The bride and grooms place at the head table.
The lace tablecloth was my great grandmothers and over 80 years old.
About 200 china plates were  collected from estate sales,
friends and thrift stores for each guest.
Preparing the dessert corner.
Not your typical wedding cake....but it's all them
and that's the beauty in it

My niece joined us at a picture stop at the boathouse.
Grandma joins us for a photo.
My beautiful nieces ........and their parents.

A hand painted sign named each table after a favorite place of the bride and groom
Hair adornments and corsages were all uniquely different and handmade.
Even my little niece had one.

The beautiful bride and my sister, the matron of honor.
The brides jacket was made by her mother.

The brides father begins the festivities at the reception.

The toasts and stories kept us laughing all through dinner.

Cheers.
We did it!
My sister who flew in from Nashville and had a flight cancelled.
They ended up driving with us six hours from the cities to home.
I then began my cake decorating at two am.
We  look pretty good considering :)
Vikings fans or Packers fan?
The bride and groom ended up feeding each other a piece of "their" teams cake.
Must be a marriage made in heaven.

Congratulations!
